Enter the Imperial Guards… and what an entrance! We’ll be touching upon the silliness of the Imperial Guards over the next few months. I have to say, as far as giving us parody material goes, I love these guys! I think they’re adorable. In fact, that last panel is the supersized high-res version that our Patreon subscribers will be receiving this week. I also had fun coloring them and figuring out their shiny helmets. Leanne did a great job on these unfortunate elite.

And those imperial guards are pretty silly, with their helmet slits, bright red cloaks, and pikes. How are they supposed to fight in that stuff?
They’re solely ceremonial. Obviously they must be, as their entire uniform is just one giant Red Shirt, so they wouldn’t last 5 seconds once the landing party beamed down to the planet.
or they’re genre savvy enough to figure a red SHIRT = death but an entire red flowing robe? completely different. after all you never saw one of them die in the movies did you? barring you know, minor details like there were plenty on board the 2nd death star, but we didn;t SEE them die so it doesn;t count.
Brilliant stuff. My young son has always liked them – even though they don’t actually DO anything.

Perhaps you might add a loving tribute to my favorite funny alien, Mork, in a future BMS? It just seems fitting that we could all use a laugh….
A laugh is what BMS is all about with every strip. I only vaguely remember the Mork and Mindy show from my early childhood, so I couldn’t do it much justice and wouldn’t want to shoehorn him in. I’ll keep it in mind, but I’m not making any promises.
It’s be funny to see the Emperor making a report – knees a trembling – before Mork’s boss: Orson!
