This week is the 5th Anniversary of Blue Milk Special. It has now been five years since we first published our George Lucas introduction strip. Five years since Smoking Jawa first visited Aunt Beru, delivering more than blue milk. In some ways it feels longer. We’re approaching another milestone: 600 strips! For Leanne and myself, this year is also the 10th Anniversary of our wedding. We have come a long way!

We’ve been to numerous comic conventions along the East Coast and one out West. We’ve discovered new facets to minor characters in the Star Wars universe. We’ve delved into the spin off expanded universe, including the Star Wars Holiday Special, Splinter of the Mind’s Eye and Shadows of the Empire and we’re well on our way through the first act of Return of the Jedi.

Most importantly of all, we’ve made so many new friends in the process of building a fan community from our readers. From the incredible passion and enthusiasm that gave us the Blue Milk Cartons, to a custom made lego Darth Vader holding a Star Trek mug! Fans who have volunteered to hand out our free promotional cards at conventions or to sit with us and laugh behind our table. Friends who have made the experience of being Star Wars fans so much richer for the two of us!

There have been many times in the past where our patience and resolve were sorely tested with internet trolls and the trials of daily life. Moments when we were about to quit and walk away from everything we had built here to get away from the craziness. But it’s hard to let a project go that was inspired by something that meant so much to us. No matter what might divide us, never forget that despite the small differences, we are united by our love and need for escapism into a galaxy far, far away!

Thank you for sticking with us. Thank you for your words of support, your donations and enthusiasm. In short, thank you for your Forciness!

Awww…. Just look at her. Somebody get her a cigarette!
