IMG_1576I just want to wish Jason Pangborn a Happy Birthday. He hit the big Four Zero on Sunday and by all accounts had a great day. When I sent him this strip as a surprise, he informed me of a new addition to his R2 unit that he kindly offered to share with BMS readers…

Jason Pangborn: Do you know that I have Kenny Baker inside of my R2? An action figure “driving” R2 from his cockpit in the dome and Kenny’s autograph in side R2’s access door.

I had Kenny sign the back panel while at Celebration VI In Orlando. R2 wasn’t finished yet, but I took the panel with me.

I added the Kenny Baker action figure and his cockpit a few months ago. Nearly every time I take R2 out to an event, I get asked “is there someone in there” So now, I can say “yes, there is!”

Jason Pangborn: Kenny is positioned so that he can look out through the front holoprojector and control R2 as needed.

Our next appearance is this Saturday, the 24th from 2pm-7pm

It’s “Air&Scare” a huge event!

It is at the National Air & Space Museum, Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center.

There will be up to 150 SW costumers, and at least half a dozen droids. Including mine.

Rod Hannah: Now, onto a little bit of news…

It is the 10th anniversary of Jedipedia.net, our amazing buddies in Germany who have been hosting and translating Blue Milk Special for the last four years. Jedipedia.net’s origins began on October 16, 2005 as a group of German Star Wars fans joined together to create the German Star Wars Wiki. It quickly grew to epic proportions, much like Wookieepedia.

The community behind the Jedipedia Star Wars Wiki would become closely knit with enduring friendships and formal and informal gatherings. One of the key successes of the Wiki has been in arranging collaborations and partnerships with a number of other sites and fan organizations, including the official Star Wars fan club of Germany early in 2011. Through the efforts of Michael Stipp, Blue Milk Special found a host for the webcomic in Europe and became even more accessible to German fans. The first Blue Milk Special comic was published in German on December 25, 2011. Incredibly, Michael caught up to us within a little over two years, translating roughly 500 strips at the time.

Thanks to our association with Jedipedia.net, we were able to be a part of the Jedi-Con event in 2014, held in Dusseldorf. This presented a great opportunity for Leanne and myself to finally have a vacation and treat ourselves after several difficult years, and we were not disappointed. We had an amazing time with Michael, Moritz, Daniela, Georg, Stefan, Johann, Anton, Magnus and everyone who made us feel like we were long lost family.

If you are a German speaker, or interested in learning German, why not do so with Star Wars through the Jedipedia German Blue Milk Special translation? It is absolutely free, just like the webcomic.
