Even though it is hard to believe the battle was truly over with the destruction of the Death Star, and the deaths of the Emperor, Darth Vader, Moff Jerjerrod, and Admiral Piett, Return of the Jedi did present a sense of closure. Sure, there would be a lot of mopping up still left to do across the galaxy, but you had the sense that the tide had at last turned and that the Empire was now crumbling and facing imminent and final defeat.

I’ll say no more on the matter, as I think the strip above is enough to provoke though on where the Original Trilogy left us, prior to the resurrection of the franchise in the 90s, and its second rebirth in the 2010s. Taken on their own, the Original Trilogy is quite satisfying for us, at least.
