Biggs’ wish to do his past over is granted! But what does that mean for the BMS universe? We’re quite a few strips ahead over on Patreon at the moment, so I can guarantee an update this Friday, and twice next week as we enter June 2017. Almost halfway through this bizarre year already! And I’m not even talking about BMS!

We continue our second wave of BMS Milk Cartons, thanks to the Papercraft professor, T. Gatto.

Please remember these are absolutely free to download and construct. These are by fans for fans. If you see anyone selling these, please report them to us immediately.

I know, you might be wondering why the back of Oola’s head looks like a cat’s asshole. However, if you read T.’s instructions, you’ll see that “X” marks the spot to attach Oola’s ear tentacle appendages. To see the rest of the cartons, head on over to our BMS Milk Cartons page here.

We also have an exciting new Wedge Antilles collection for sale. Check below before the only copy is gone!

The BMS Wedge Antilles Ultimate Collection!

MS Wedge webcomic appearances, from 2009-2017.

This set of BMS webcomic prints includes the following storylines: Wedge at Yavin IV; Wedge and Biggs’ Ghost; Wedge in Shadows of the Empire; Wedge vs the Fanboys and Girls; Wedge and Simon Calamari.

Wedge is one of the most beloved second tier characters from the Star Wars universe, and he’s had some bizarre adventures in the Blue Milk Special webcomic that should entertain any fan. We hand sign every strip.

This set is a one of a kind and offered here to one lucky fan to help support the project. Why are we selling our own collection? BMS is produced at our own expense and not published in any collected form. To keep going, we have to raise funds to support website costs and updates / maintenance somehow. So spoil yourself, and help the comic at the same time!

We feel the set is worth at least twice what we are asking for it, but we hope we can meet each other halfway. At the price we’re asking, you get these signed strips for less than $2 dollars each, including bonus exclusive Leia pin and BMS challenge coin, plus set of 6 Leia trading card with art by Leanne Hannah.

As mentioned above, if you buy now, we will include an exclusive Leanne Hannah trading card set of 6 showing the illustration process for Disco Leia. See photos.
This set includes:

46 webcomic prints on 8.5″x11″ inch glossy photo paper (signed by the artists)

Please consider supporting BMS, whether it’s through buying one of these auctions, or donating via Patreon or GoFundMe. If you want to donate to us directly through Paypal, then here is the link.

If you subscribe to us through Patreon, you get to see the next set of strips early and get exclusive content. All money helps keep BMS going from the cost of the website to helping with my expensive monthly medical bills and health insurance. And now it is time for our Biggs update. Biggs, our pet cat, that is!

I wanted to wait until we made it through the weekend before posting an update, since the last few times I’ve been posting updates about things seemingly getting better, something unexpected has happened and we have found ourselves back at the clinic. However, I am now very confident that Biggs is just about back to his normal self and he no longer smells of urine!

At last!

Aside from the shaved front of his neck, and shaved ankles on his forelegs, (I prefer to call the front legs arms, because I just do), he is about as normal as can be. He’s back to pestering us around 9 pm for his wet food. He’s back to playing again (for the first time last night), and he’s sleeping beside us again too.

No more signs of trouble going to the bathroom. And after spending a LOT of money on different brands and flavors of urinary health wet food, we have found one he actually likes. He’s also started eating the urinary care dry food, although it took him nearly a week!

We gave him the last of his pain medications last night. He’s now on the remaining antibiotics every day, along with a couple other syringe delivered medicines. He doesn’t fight with us when we give him the medicine, so that’s also great. Based on how he reacts to vets, you would never guess he could be so tame at home.

We’ve reached a phenomenal $2,385 of our $2,500 goal! I don’t want to sound like a broken record, but the compassion and generosity of everyone who has been in a position to contribute is the ray of light throughout this whole ordeal. Dr. Fox (the aptly named vet) who was one of the primary vets to treat Biggs told us that Biggs was having the toughest few days of his life. As a three year old we really felt for him, and there were two occasions where I really felt scared that his time might be up. But thanks to you guys, our efforts to save him and make sure he got all the care that was needed, was made possible through this GoFundMe.

While we’re still a ways off from being able to cover the costs, and the after care costs, we’ve been able to weather the storm rather than be ruined by it completely. Our need is still urgent and we are month to month with my medical costs as well, but thanks to the incredible generosity of our friends, family, and readers, the good ship Hannah has yet to sink!

As for the BMS postcards we promised to those BMS readers who donated $20 and up, please email me your address at rod.hannah@gmail.com so we can get those mailed out to you at the start of next week. Thanks to all of you!

Ever had to listen to a terrible conversation while being given a ride somewhere?

For those of you with a bit of Star Wars knowledge, I guess we could call Biggs’ urinary issues “Kaiburr Crystals”. Yep, as you know, Biggs, our beloved cat, has been stricken with the worst week of his life. I’m making light of it here with the kaiburr crystals joke, but those who are familiar with urinary / bladder crystal blockages in cats, will know just how scary what we’ve been going through is.

Here’s the little guy, pictured above, with two shaved forelegs that make him look like a poodle.

Things seemed to be going better for Biggs over the weekend and through Monday. But on Tuesday the howling while on the litter tray started again. By 10 pm we were on the road back to the emergency clinic with him.

It turns out he has a bladder infection that is resistant to the initial antibiotic shot he was given. So he’s on a large amount of different meds, and antibiotics now. The goal is to get him through this, or, if the kaiburr crystals keep coming back, we’re facing super expensive major surgery to save his life. Still, Biggs has been a lot better since we came back home with him at about 2:30am on Wednesday morning, in what has been his second trip to the emergency clinic in just over a week.

Biggs has been exhibiting even more of his pre-Bladder-Blockage personality. He hasn’t shown any signs of pain using the litter tray today, and he’s been very cooperative in taking his wide range of medications. Most encouragingly, he finally sought out food by his own inclination, rather than having to be coaxed, or force-fed. Yes, our little Biggsy is seemingly on the mend. Hopefully, the added antibiotics are helping with his bladder infection. We want to see another day of positive signs before we really start to push the idea of major surgery to the back of the mind. But I feel encouraged.

The little guy is super affectionate. Perhaps he appreciates being home and not at the vet’s. Last night, I ended up sleeping on the couch (this happens every so often when my neck is really bad, and I don’t want to keep Leanne up by tossing and turning and fidgeting all night). I woke up to find Biggs was sleeping by my head. In fact, he was resting his forehead against mine.

I don’t know what could make him more lovable right now.

In fact, last night, he did a forward roll and landed in a position in which he began to lick his privates. It was impressive. The sort of move that couldn’t be planned… or could it?

I appreciate the advice we are being given. Please do leave your comments on the GoFundMe Campaign wall. One comment I find especially interesting from Candi Crushe is the difference between bottled water and regular filtered tap water on the formation of crystals (Kaiburr Crystals! – Star Wars ref) in the bladder / urinary tract. We will make that adjustment and hope we are eliminating another possible cause for his sudden onset at the age of only three years old.

We have had some recent donations from friends, and long time supporters that have pushed us very close to our goal of $2500. As mentioned previously, the costs ballooned well above that number during Biggs’ treatment, but if we can reach the goal, then we are in a much better place to survive this month financially. Our need is still urgent and we are month to month with my medical costs as well, but thanks to the incredible generosity of our friends, family, and readers, we are managing to weather this storm.

Thank you to everyone for being so damn awesome and supportive and super decent people. It means a lot to know others care and are thinking of us. It’s a reminder that there are great and compassionate people in the world, and it isn’t all doom and gloom like the news media likes to present.

Meanwhile, as I type this, our beloved pet cat (our little boy), Biggs is rubbing up against my legs. He smells of urine, but I don’t care. Just seeing him with some life in him is something I was not sure I’d ever see again after last week. We started a Gofundme campaign for the incredible costs of his treatment and hospital stay. So many people have already lent their support, and we thank you all. Without you my sanity would be out the door. You can check out the campaign here and follow along with Biggs’ progress back to a full — we hope!– recovery.

If anyone is able to contribute, it will be of great help to us in weathering this unexpected family crisis. If you can donate more than $20 we will send you a signed BMS postcard. Make sure to include your mailing address.

Ever shared a bed with a Twi’lek? It can be unsettling! Of course, I speak from personal experience, having formally been in a sexual relationship with Bib Fortuna…. I kid! I kid! Click here to view the beginning of the story of Biggs Darklighter and Oola Oop.

Here’s the update on Biggs’ Darklighter’s furry counterpart, our sick kitty, Biggs Pawlighter. Here’s a pic of the sweety.

As I mentioned last update, Biggs was howling in pain last Saturday and after checking him into the emergency vet clinic in Waldorf, MD, we learned he had a blocked bladder. Common in male cats, and fatal in the wild, and very quickly anywhere else, without urgent attention. We left him in the capable and friendly hands of the 24/7 veterinary staff and visited him each day. After three days at the clinic, and a couple of blood clots that hampered his progress, we took over his care at home. It has been a very scary experience and we’re left with no doubt as to how attached we are to our little guy.

We had another scare with Biggs this morning. We were able to bring him home almost two days ago, but he has been having real trouble urinating and defecating. He has little to no appetite, and he has been leaking around the house mostly because of the sedative and little self control. We took him to our regular vet this morning and had his bladder checked out. It isn’t blocked, though probably inflamed, as we suspected. So we were given medication to help with that.

Otherwise, we were mostly reassured that there wasn’t anything that appeared in need of urgent attention. However, we will take him back to the emergency clinic for their internal medicine specialist if necessary. We are spoon feeding him, and coaxing him to drink. It’s a lot of work, and when you’re on your own, it’s more challenging because you don’t have that other person with you to reassure you and help you not give up too easily. Getting him to eat and take his sedative is very challenging with just two hands.

We’re going to try and help him relieve his bladder and possible a bowel movement. I really miss seeing our sprightly, mischievous little cat. We just have to keep working hard 24/7, making sure he gets nourishment, his prescription at the correct hours, even the middle of the night, and monitor him… and watch out for puddles on the floor. Thanks to everyone who has been able to help in the gofundme campaign, and to everyone else who has been supportive.

The estimate was for two days at $2500. So I started a GoFundMe campaign called Biggs’ Bladder Battle. However, Biggs ended up having blood clots that slowed down the process and he had to stay for a little over three days. In fact, he only came home because we agreed with the doctor that in a more familiar and less stressful environment at home, he may start eating again. He’s been home for nearly two days now, and it has been a little scary seeing him so vulnerable and helpless. However, he has shown some positive signs, as mentioned above. Obviously, money is second in our minds to Biggs’ well-being, but it has helped with that extra level of anxiety that comes with being hit with an unexpected bill for thousands of dollars. So the GofundMe campaign and everyone who has been in a position to contribute has played a part in making things just a little less nerve-wracking over the past week.

Thank you!

Click here to view the beginning of the story of Biggs Darklighter and Oola Oop.

This blog is going to be a little derailed from it’s original subject, just like our weekend has been. This is Biggs. A couple of years ago I posted about the rescue cat we adopted from the Humane Society. We named him Biggs. Well, Biggs Pawlighter, actually.

We got back from the emergency vet clinic at about 2 am. Biggs (our cat, not Biggs Darklighter, his namesake) had been howling in pain on and off since Saturday afternoon. We were really scared and couldn’t work out what was causing his dramatic change in behavior. Although he has a wonderfully loving temperament and personalty around us at home, he turns into a wild little demon whenever we step through the door with him at the vet clinics. So bad that he actually savaged our regular vet’s hand and the guy had to get it bandaged up. They prescribed gabapentin to help prepare and relax him for future vet visits.

So we gave him one of the tablets with the plan to take him to the only place that was open on Saturday, which was the emergency clinic. However, he seemed to be doing a lot better on the drug and slept most of the afternoon and evening. Our hand was forced when we finally started to get a clue what was wrong. We noticed he was constantly licking at his privates, which confirmed our suspicion he was having some sort of trouble going to the bathroom. Which was a potentially fatal situation for him.

And, indeed, that’s what it turned out to be. He has a urinary tract blockage. Basically it has swollen up so big that he can’t do anything in the litter tray. He is obviously in a mighty level of pain. According to our doctor brother-in-law, the male cat’s penis is the worst invention in all of nature. Super prone to these sorts of things. You learn something new everyday. Cat penises are bad!

The vets confirmed that it is a urinary tract blockage and put a catheter in him. Leanne called them this afternoon and the nurse said that he’s a lot calmer now because he’s on pain meds which is keeping him less stressed and manageable. However, he has been working his way out of the cone around his head to protect him from pulling the catheter out, which he has managed to do already. He’s too clever and determined for his own good.

Right now they’re waiting for his urine to clear of blood so they can take the catheter out and give him antibiotics. The doctor said once that’s done he can be discharged and they’ll give us a prescription for special food he will have to be on for the rest of his life which should prevent that from happening again. If we chose not to give him this prescription diet, then it is much more likely the urinary blockage would occur again. Future options would be to basically change his plumbing so that he no longer uses his male cat bits to pee and does it all via the backdoor exit. A major op in terms of cost, no doubt. So we prefer the idea of the diet and we’re sure Biggs does too.

Biggs should come out of this fine, we hope. Provided things don’t somehow deteriorate, and there aren’t any other issues. But the house is lonely, and there’s always that fear that something could still go wrong.

Unfortunately, the worst case estimate for the costs of what it has taken to save Biggs’ life, has come to pass. He will have to stay for a second day under observation and hooked up to a different catheter. All up, it will be $2500 dollars. We could almost buy our own ship for that! And I’d pilot it. I’m not such a bad pilot myself. Anyway, I was floored. So I’m opening up a GoFundMe campaign called Biggs’ Bladder Battle. If anyone is able to contribute, it will be of great help to us in weathering this unexpected family crisis. If you can donate more than $20 we will send you a signed BMS postcard. Make sure to include your mailing address.

So, we’re both very tired, very broke, and very worried about the little guy. When we left him he was not happy and was struggling with his medical hook ups. He’s the furry moral support behind Blue Milk Special. The unsung hero. He’s my little buddy and I miss him. :-/

Welcome to our special bonus BMS extra time. It’s a little story called The Darklighter Chronicles, which picks up where we left Biggs and Oola, braving the elements of Tattooine’s scorched surface under twin molten suns. Our Patreon supporters have already seen the entire first Chapter of The Darklighter Chronicles, but we will now be running the series for all to see on this website as a warm up to Heir to the Empire. Depending on the support and feedback, it will help us make our decision on the future direction of BMS.

When last we saw Darklighter and Oola the Liberated Twi’Lek, they were braving the Dune Sea, seeking shelter and sustenance, the latter of which came from the marshmallows of the Tusken Raiders. Click here to view. Now they have reached a canyon overlooking the Jundland Wastes. Will Biggs and Oola survive the daring swing across the chasm with a magically unattached rope?

Well of course they will. Hasn’t anyone seen the 1960s Spider-Man cartoon? I always thought there had to be an off-screen helicopter he had webbed, because he sure as hell wasn’t using any buildings. Just look at the final shot of the opening sequence!

Anyway, you all know that Biggs and Oola will be okay. It would be pretty lame if we killed them in the first strip of their new spin-off!

Are you a Doctor Who fan? Or is a special person in your life a Doctor Who fan? Well, we are offering up every single strip in which the Doctor Who universe crossed into Blue Milk Special. This unique auction features 12 Whovian / Star Warsian melds that occurred from 2009-2016. The set of BMS webcomic prints includes the fan favorite “I Said Don’t Touch Anything!” We are also including an 11×17″ glossy print of Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor.

This set is a one of a kind and offered here to one lucky fan to help support the project. Why are we selling our own collection? BMS exists thanks to the support we receive from readers, helping us balance our evenings and weekends spent drawing and hoping to earn a giggle. BMS is produced at our own expense and not published in any collected, mass-produced form. To keep going, we have to raise funds to support website costs and updates / maintenance, disasters, etc, somehow. So spoil yourself, and help the comic at the same time! Especially if you are looking forward to where BMS goes from here.

We can not publish BMS for sale as it is only a fan project, so we rely on fan support for the project’s continuation.
