Han the Hero
–EDIT BLOG UPDATE 9:30 AM EDT–
I’ve added a brand new voting incentive strip AND a brand new poll. It’s a fun one, suggested by BMSer Frostbite. “If you could own and operate a fully operational Star Wars vehicle, which of the following would you choose?”
As for the poll that just ended… We managed to get over 1300 votes after leaving it up for well over a month. The results are interesting because they suggest the age range of our readership as well as which of the films has the most nostalgic importance.
If anyone is interested, both Leanne and myself saw Star Wars in a theater for the first time in the 90s: the Star Wars Special Edition, or “A New Hope”. It wasn’t our very first time seeing the film. I saw it when it aired on television in the UK when I was about 3 or 4 years old in the early 80s. Leanne saw it on video in her high school years.
BLUE MILK SPECIAL HIATUS UNTIL MAY 4th, 2011
The following bit of news will disappoint many of you, but we have to take an unexpected break from Blue Milk Special, beginning with today’s strip. We won’t be back until May 4th. Yes, we’re taking all of April off in order to focus on the projects that put bread on our table. In the meantime you can perhaps look forward to one or two new incentive strips over the next couple of weeks.
Hope you liked today’s strip. Please let us know in the comment thread.
Oh, and I’m looking for a good site to download anime. If anyone can help then shoot me an email.
MANGA ARTIST NEEDED FOR SPECIAL PROJECT
If you are a manga artist looking for a project, shoot me an email. If you like Record of Lodoss War that would be a bonus. I have a fantasy comic (elves, dark elves, warlocks, undead, barbarians, exiled imperial guards, monsters, romance) that just needs the right enthusiastic and talented artist to collaborate with me and bring it all to life in visual form.
I have written for the 2x Harvey Award winning Mice Templar with Mike Oeming and Bryan Glass, and self published Once Upon a Super Hero my creator-owned book. I also write for the 1980s Animation magazine Cereal:Geek and, of course, produce an ongoing Star Wars parody webcomic with my wife, Leanne Hannah called Blue Milk Special. Leanne has illustrated for Tod Dezago’s Perhapanauts, Casper and the Spectrals, several indie titles as well as working with Rob Zombie on his book, “Whatever Happened to Baron Von Shock?” as editor and illustrator.
I have contacts that can benefit myself and an aspiring artist. My goal is to find an enthusiastic collaborator to visually realize a high fantasy story for our mutual benefit. I am leaning towards either a one-shot sized book (minimum 22 pages) or a single graphic novel which would be self published online and in print. This project would be a great opportunity for an aspiring manga artist to make some good connections… and who knows? Maybe the book might even sell!
I am currently considering a manga style as a way to go. This specific project requires a rather serious style of art (less cartoony). I am still open to more traditional western comic styles as well, so if you’re enthusiastic then try me. However, I have other projects that I may want to develop with other artists with a more fun style too. Basically, if you know anyone who might be interested, let me know.
Ok I have a problem with the poll. Don’t get me wrong it’s a good poll, but NO SPEEDER BIKE? SERIOUSLY?!? (sorry to shout, got carried away) I so wanted one of these as a kid and still do. Although an ATST would be a close second. I’d be like Brian from Family Guy though “SKADOOSH”
Come on, first forest you find you’d crash that thing. I’m basically saving you life by excluding it. 😉
with that avatar, i’d assume it would have been the vehicle i want most…Slave I (or II i suppose…), without that there’s no real comparison to the Falcon.
I don’t recall the snowspeeders working out too well either though. I kinda liken them to the nasty stuff you step in when following animals.
Best reason for the bacta tank ever!
Also, ha ha, nobody want TIE fighter!
beautiful post (in what assume is a 4/1 prank) that most of you might enjoy!

Then where is Monday’s strip? 🙂
I wasn’t kidding.
Yes you were, you just changed your mind at the last minute to be mean!
As BMS Vader would say “suck it!” 😉
Typical artsy type, oversensitive, especially when under appreciated!. 😉
Does this mean I can’t expect a Christmas card this year?
Very very good, thanks! You’d feel doubt that it is just a joke.
What about Boba Fetts ship?
Slave 1 ?!?!
You mean that clothes iron? 😉 Skipped by accident, I’m afraid. :-/
I have just read through your archive. I am a comic fan, not a star wars fan. I love your comic, although I have never been to excited about the OT. Except for the music theme by John Williams 🙂 Keep up the good work.
Btw, what is your opinion of the (great) games KOTOR (Knights of the old republic). Do you accept those into the Star Wars history? To be honest those are what defines Star Wars for me.
I haven’t touched KOTOR. Part of the problem is I just don’t have the spare time to play video games. I would love to get back into video games, particularly the Elder Scrolls, but I’m not sure if KOTOR would be for me. I know we have many readers who seem to have a positive opinion on it though.
Thanks by the way for the kind words. It means even more knowing that you are able to enjoy the strip without even being a fan of the OT. 🙂
Boy if this hiatus is an April Fools Joke, you really got us good, by actually carrying it out! 😉
On a more serious note;
Does anyone play Dejarik (the holographic Chess set from the Falcon).
I just bought a set of game pieces and I’m making a board, thus the cartons have bees slow (please don’t beat me up).
I just wanted to know if anyone recommended any specific rule variants, and where I might be able to buy a ready made board.
I also think it would make a good Blog topic as; 2 game sets; an action figure; and a free card model are now available, and the game seems to be gaining some cult popularity.
Hm, I don’t know much about the Dejarik rules, but you could use those “hologram” mini-figures/statues that used to came with various waves during the mid-to-latter part of the latest 7-5 yers, as the “chess pieces” or what they’re called in Dejarik 🙂
I bought a set from Sideshow – it’s lovely. Never played it though. Here’s some rules for ya http://dhost.info/rissa/Holochess/index.htm
My 5-year-old beat me the first time we played it. 🙁
Did I learn my lesson, and look ofr a new hobby? Hell NO, I’m up for another beating tonight. 😉
I had to make my own board out of Foam Core, but it looks great.
And apparently I can’t spell ‘for” today either. 😉
next poll should be for larger craft, like star destroyers or really anything larger then the falcon
Just a tip that you might already know about. Three star wars comics in the midst of a bunch of dungeons and dragons comics.

Very cool! I will pimp.
Happy Happy Joy Joy. 🙂
I finally got my copy of “Once Upon a Super Hero”. I ordered it about 2 months ago, and there was a glitch of some kind with my order, but It’s hers, and I’ll read it tonight! 🙂 🙂
Cant wait (it’ll help me get through my BMS withdrawal symptoms). 🙂 🙂 🙂
Read it. Liked it. When is the next one due out?
Hey;
I just noticed the Voting link has a picture of the Wampa, but the text references a new Probe Droid strip.
I guess I never actually read what it says, I just click.
Ahhh! I know we are on a break, but I STILL can’t help but check in daily to see if a new strip is up! Hope you are both getting what you need from your hiatus!
Me too. Are you in Ireland too?
Nope, I’m in the SCA. I have however, traced family lines to both Ireland and Scotland. Currently I live in Arkansas, USA.
It’s just that your username looks Irish!
It is. It’s Gaelic. Means “instigator”.
And I’m caught up!! Wootz!
Can’t wait for BMS’ return in a few weeks! 🙂
‘Much as I like starfighters…
You can LIVE in The millennium Falcon. Who’d NEED anything else?
Awesome Star Wars/DR Who mash up (and others)
