battlestar-galactica-20080410023353829-000Moff Jerjerrod gets very little time in Return of the Jedi to blossom, which is a shame as despite his limited screen time, the deleted scenes included on the Star Wars Blu-Rays showed his character was surprisingly three-dimensional. I’ll get to those specific deleted scenes eventually, but for now I wanted to do something a little different.

Jerjerrod comes across as an anxious and sympathetic high ranking Imperial. From the beginning he seems fully aware of Darth Vader’s reputation for the mistreatment of subordinates, yet he still tries as politely as possible to ask for more time to complete the Death Star. Considering how far along such a massive planetoid-sized space station is in construction over what was something like five years, I think Jerjerrod has done a pretty good job. Then Vader drops the bomb on him that the Emperor himself is coming to visit. It’s not fun to be Jerjerrod.

Exactly why I think Jerjerrod is a somewhat redemptive character won’t be clear until we reach his last deleted scene. For now, I wanted to put him in another awkward situation, where his politeness and self-doubt make it difficult for him to tackle the subject of romance. Cylon Number Six is here in BMS for more than just a cameo. Normally we try to have more of a crude or slapstick punchline, but in the case of this strip, I felt like absurdity and cute worked for a different kind of strip. I hope people will find what we are planning for Jerjerrod and Number 6 interesting!

Leanne, the primary artist for Blue Milk Special, used to work as an editor and artist on the 2003 comic book reboot of Masters of the Universe for Image and Crossgen. As a result, we’ve had a good relationship with the Masters of the Universe fan community and have in the past attended Power Con…

Power-Con, the He-Man and She-Ra fan convention, is set to return to Los Angeles on June 4th and 5th, 2016! (http://www.thepower-con.com/)

The convention focuses on maximizing fan exposure to the creative background and history of Masters of the Universe and Princess of Power. Power-Con is geared towards what fans want to see and is run by fan volunteers who bring the very best to the table.

This year the convention will have three Masters of the Universe Classics figure exclusives for purchase: Camo Khan, green mini comic Granamyr, and red mini comic Beast Man. And these will be available for pre-order regardless of whether or not you can attend the show!

We achieved our GoFundMe campaign goal! However, if you missed out and still want to contribute, you can help put a little in the war chest.

Late last week the final tweaks were finished on the site. We have WordFence installed, and Updraft and DropBox accounts for backups to help protect us against total disaster. We still have an old version of ComicPress running, but the only alternative is Comic Easel, which I’m not familiar with and would require a total redesign and mean starting from scratch with the blogs and strips. So we’re going to try to keep ComicPress working.

If it hadn’t been for this support, we would be hurting really bad right now, and to be honest, I don’t know how much enthusiasm it would have left me toward continuing BMS. This is another huge boost from you guys that goes a long way.

Even if there will be future scares with the website, we can go forward knowing we can get through them without everything collapsing like a house of cards.

I want to especially thank Jamie and Chris from SparkingDesign.com who we call on to do our website work from time to time. Without them we could very well still be scratching our heads wondering how to fix the site. Great people, who not only know what they are doing, but are good friends.
