The Knife Trick
One of my absolute favorite films is the 1986 movie, Aliens. In my mind there is only one real flaw in the film, and that’s the recycling of the climax from the first film, but I’d still take Aliens over Alien any day. That’s my personal taste. Before I get torn to shreds, I just want to explain that I’m more action / sci-fi oriented than gory horror. The score, the characters, the designs, the set pieces, the story, the acting, and even the directing are all brilliant. That must be the REAL reason that Han Solo’s crew also includes a few Colonial Marines among the Rebel Commandos.
Thanks to a little help from our friends, we have broken our funding goal for the new website. This is huge for us. We could not have done this ourselves and would more than likely have had to pull the plug on this site and upload all the strips to somewhere like Google Plus, losing blogs and all the functionality of this website.
Our goal was to raise $1000 by December so we could begin the rebuild in January. We can now move forward with our plans and we hope raise a little extra to help us take the redesign even further, adding new functionality. We want to be able to improve the archive section to be better organized and more graphical (something like http://mortifera.net/archive/) and make it easier for people to navigate through the 700+ strips currently available. By the time we hit January, we will be close to 800!
How much room we have to grow the site will depend on the continued success of the New Blue Milk Special Websbite campaign at GoFundMe. I’ve increased the goal, though this is all a bonus.

I prefer Aliens as well, but appreciate the suspense and terror that comes from its predecessor. The game “Alien Isolation” has pulled me back to the first film and re-explore its retro intricacies, but I’m more of an action fan over horror, anyway. I heard that Alien is to survival horror, as Aliens is to action horror. But Aliens certainly has more memorable characters. Ripley really comes out as her own person, whereas in the first film, while still a strong character, really only stood out because she outlasted the others.
I love both films, but I have to give it to #2 as well.
As for the knife trick, I used to use a pencil and practice with the eraser till I got pretty fast, then I’d use the point. never got around to using a knife though…Good times! 😛

If you like Aliens, and enjoy games, you may want to check out “Space Beast Terror Fright” on steam if you haven’t already. it’s an indie game, and probably the best aliens game I’ve ever played without even being an aliens or AVP game. 😀

Aliens was always my least favourite of them all, since as a kid I felt betrayed by the breach of tone, I didn’t mind that about the 4th part as much as I was a lot older when I saw it and part 2 already had taken all the fire for the tone breach.
It was perfect, in my book. Rather than repeat the same formula, they actually broadened the story and took it to the next level by involving the military. A lot of horror film franchises simply make remakes, rather than true sequels that advance the story. Aliens was brilliantly done. It’s only real flaw was reusing the same gimmick for the climactic scene.
I kinda love you a little bit right now. Aliens has been my favorite film since first watching it on VHS in ’87… wore out the tape and had to get another one. Any kind of Aliens reference makes me extremely giddy, and this just left me giggling like a fool 😀 😀 Thank you thank you thank you for being the Awesome people you are!

I was always a fan of “Aliens,” but after not seeing it for a while I tuned in recently. And I was surprised how obnoxious some of those Marine characters are. Bill Paxton is one of the obnoxious ones, but he takes it so far over the top that his character kind of goes back around to becoming great. And that “Game over, man!” line was supposedly ad-libbed.
