I used to LOVE Greedo when I was a kid. I just thought he looked so cool. The epitomy of a bug-eyed, antennaed alien with green skin. I think part of the charm came from the fact that he is only in the film for one minute and then killed. He had potential…
His name is worth a comment. Greedo wants all of Han’s money. Greedo = greedy. Hah! Such wit! But just when you think that George Lucas and J.K. Rowling have a lot in common when it comes to blatantly naming their characters with good or bad associations (Rowling goes one step further with faux latin) you get a name in Star Wars like Momaw Nadon. Come on… is he good? Is he bad? How will the kids buying the toys be able to tell? Perhaps it adds to his marketability? My money is on Greedo, however. That venal mercenary!
The poor guy wasn’t too smart, and allowed Han’s subtlety with a pistol under the table to get the better of him. Fortunately, Greedo has a large family and they’re all in the mercenary / bounty hunting business. Boba Fett, pssssh!

I always figured that Greedo’s name was a play on Guido, a typical name for a mafia style enforcer.
