Love that Vader
I just felt like commenting on Vader’s apparent lack of effort in the film. Let’s face it… the guy has the plans slip through his fingers, has the opportunity to recapture the plans but instead takes a huge gamble by letting the good guys get away again, hoping they will lead the Empire to the rebel base. When they do, the Death Star gets blown up! Way to go Vader. Stop drinking fricken coffee and do something!

It was all part of Vader’s insidious plot to undermine the Emperor and take his place by allowing valuable resources to be destroyed. Notice how he was the only one to get away? So there! Ok, you’re right; Vader was just lame about finding the plans.
^but he was trying to undermine the emperor, that’s why he saved honogr, so that he could have a private army. that’s why he tried to convert luke, to have his own apprentice, now that the first one failed…

The second panel is even better if I imagine Vader making that slurping sound throughout Tarkin’s speech.
Just for the sake of arguments about Vader undermining Palpatine and all….

So, Vader, the quintessential inept Saturday Morning Cartoon bad guy has, thanks to the X-U been transformed into an evil genius whose cunning outwitted both Palpatine and even Peter Cushing himself!
