Rebel assault!

It’s hard for me to pick a favorite BMS character.  Several have developed a life of their own. Obi Wan was enormous fun to write, so are Han and Biggs.  If we ever make it to The Empire Strikes Back then I expect some of the Chewie-based strips will make him more popular.  However, Vader is probably the one that amuses me the most.  There’s something about him not really giving a shit that makes me laugh.  I’m interested to know who your favorite BMS SW character is so far and why.  So, please leave a comment with your thoughts when you get a chance.  Whether I get the chance to respond to everyone individually or not, all feedback is read and does have an affect on the strip.

As most regular reader will know by now, last Sunday the site (along with other WordPress sites) was hacked.  The result of which was the old site being irretrievably damaged.  I’m still dealing with the fact I have lost the blogs and comments for 123 comic strips, but I guess you have to count your losses and move forwards.  And moving forwards is what we’re doing.  Thanks to everyone who has expressed their sympathy and support.  It has been encouraging to know that people read this strip and care about its continuation.  Thanks again.

I know its been tough to get things going, but you are doing a great job man. Keep it up! This strip is my favorite web-comic. I hope to see it published one day.

My favorite character? Dead heat between Vader and Biggs. I love how Vader is unmotivated and not very good at his job… and Biggs is suffering delusions of Main Characterism. I about died when he came swinging in on a vine to rescue Owen and Beru, and then swung back out again without a word (but his cheesy grin still intact) when he saw their smoking remains. ^_^ Great strip altogether!

Toss-up between Vader and Han for my favorite. Vader’s utter lack of enthusiasm is awesome… Han telling Obi and Luke to get a cheap motel room is probably one of my favorites.

The site getting hacked sucks, but have you tried checking caches on various search engines to try to recover the blogs and comments? Might want to check out http://www.codinghorror.com/blog/archives/001315.html for ideas on recovering your data.

for me, it’s a toss up between vader, for his cluelessness and the Emperer. i know he hasnt been in many strips but the ones that he is in are funny because of his difference in character from the films.

keep up the great work, sucks that you got hacked but you’ll bounce back

I’d have to agree with Charlotte, it’s definitely a toss-up between Vader and Biggs. Everytime Biggs steps into panel, I hear the Mighty Mouse theme. And Vader’s complete lack of enthusiam hits me right in my jaded bureaucrat place.

Chewie and Han are by far the funniest of any of your characters. As a team who understand eachother in ways that most couples do, there are no secrets between the two. I am so happy that someone finally gave Chewie a voice!!!! How can you give props to a species that although they can build and maintain interstellar spaceships, can only communicate thru grunts and growls? I always knew that there was an incredibly intelligent being underneath all the fur.

Please keep it up, you are our only hope.

April, I can totally see that music coming up.

Here I come to save the day!

Chewie is hilarious in his proud stoicism. “Sorry, Han, I missed what you were saying to that hulking sack of fat.”

Also: I’ve never watched Star Wars. (I intend to, one day.) That’s proof the comic stands awesome on its own.

I have to admit, Governor Tarkin and his Cheekbones of Doom would have to be one of my favorite characters, partly because of how he’s drawn. The essence of Peter Cushing’s chiseled features is captured beautifully, and the strip when he blushed?

    Priceless!! X )

I also laugh whenever I see a Jawa sauntering through a frame, smoking a ciggy.

I also like Princess Leia’s sarcasm – we’ll probably be seeing her (and the pink iPhone she ganked from one of the stormtroopers) again soon, I’m sure.

I have some cached results that include comments…would those be transferrable and or usable for you? I might even be able to find multiple days.

Vadar is almost my favorite- picturing Tarkin in bunny slippers wins on visual alone for me though.

My favourite character is Vader … no wait, Biggs … Han … er … I can’t decide :(

  12. Nim

Defintiely Vader. Something about the Dark Lord of the Sith sipping coffee through a straw from a Star Trek mug is just too awesome.

  13. Galdos

Hey you got the starfield background back. Im glad to see it. Cool

I enjoy Vader’s “Shit” comment. Love the mug also. Its hard to choose between Tarkin and Vader. Boy will I miss Tarkin

  14. Rob

May the “me too” be with you . . . Mostly Vader with a dash of Biggs.

  15. Rhi

Yeah it is a tie between Vader and Biggs but if I had to pick one it would have to be Vader because of the complete contrast to the movie Vader. It was fun to have biggs swing in every now and then and he’s nto going to make it to the Empire Strikes Back is he? (noooooooo)

  16. Jarred Cramer

I love Han. You guys portray his Cockyness and ego so well.
Keep rollin’ these suckers out you two. I love em!!!

  17. Flo

I pretty much love the way you portray vader in BMS. and that’s really all I have to say.

that, and I was wondering why there was no comments (I thought that this site would get more) but now I know.

  18. Darth Holland

Hey, just discovered the site today, LOVE IT!!!! I’d have to say Biggs, although Vader is a close second. Before I read the line about the script changes I had forgotten that he was originally the hero…. GREAT stuff!!!

  19. Eric Mesa

    Adm Moff and Vader

  20. zlas

Vader you cant get any better then that guy.

  21. inigosolo

Han and Biggs are my favourites, but they’re all great.

  22. Aelfrey

Vader and his coffee addictions make me laugh. I think Leia’s Twitter addiction is ironic. Luke is pretty naive (sometimes downright dense) but in a cute, lovable way. Han is definitely the corrupting influence that keeps it real. Tarkin is the evil mastermind who’s minions keep failing him comically. And.. uh.. Chewie is… SUPER CUTE^^ <3 <3 <3

  23. elliot

it’s a 3 way toss up: Han, best character. Of all time. (just saying)
    Vader, for his screw-it-i-don’t-care attitude
Tarkin, love affair was a beastly idea, and he was really smart. I liked his “go big or go home” mentality, it reminds me of my own…to bad it didn’t pan out for him ^.^
