New to Blue Milk Special? Start reading from the beginning!

–EDIT: We have a new Cantina Band incentive strip! Keep voting! ;=

Did I forget to mention we’re updating daily for the next two weeks? It’s what we call “power BMSing”. Every so often we jump on a special mushroom and power up, allowing us to achieve twice as much while at the same time baking great pizza and running a more efficient plumbing business.

Meanwhile, in the world of Star Wars, we have a parody going on. Splinter of the Mind’s Eye to be exact. Let’s see, today’s strip is a couple of pages into chapter 11. Chapter 10 had an odd cliffhanger. Foster surpassed himself with this page turner…

Halla muttered something at the chief, who replied readily. “This isn’t exactly a request, Luke. If we were to turn down the invitation we’d apparently insult not only their hospitality but Canu’s as well. We have our choice, of course. If we insist on refusing, all we have to do is pick a champion to fight one of theirs and–”
Luke interrupted with, “It’s just occurred to me how hungry I am…”

That’s right, the chapter ends here! Luke is obligingly hungry, politely avoiding further problems with the Coway tribe. Don’t miss what happens next!

The weird thing is, if Foster had just kept going for another page or two he could have ended this chapter on the far more riveting revelation that Darth Vader is closing in on their position. Now, given the generally ambling and bumbling plot so far, one would thing this would be the perfect place to break and in doing so hook the reader to come back for more. But I guess, if you’ve made it this far into the book, you’re probably already committed right to the end. Not much further to go. In fact, all the best stuff… oops… what I meant to say is, the only good stuff is at the end anyway. That is, unless you like reading 10 chapters of Luke and Leia wandering around. ;=

Another thing I want to comment on is why the hell does Halla do all the translating for the Coway tribe? Why does Foster allow Halla to tread on C3PO’s toes? I mean what else has C3PO got left to do in this story other than be a gold plated bitch? It’s just a waste, I think.

I don’t just do Blue Milk Special, you know. Issue #0 of Once Upon a Caper, my independent comic, is now available in print at OnceUponaCaper.com for $4.99. Or you can download the digital version for FREE! Leanne illustrated the front cover you see on the right.

In a nutshell it’s a fairytale / superhero blend about the Earth’s most powerful defender of justice–an 11 year old girl named Sovena Red. However, her powers came with a catch which has become her curse… There are many great pinups in the book from artists like Mike Maihack (Cow and Buffalo), Robbi Roddriguez (Stephen Colbert’s Tek Jansen and Maintenance), and John Amor (Pluck and Once Upon a Super Hero).
