Splinter of the Mind’s Eye – Part 32

It’s Friday, Thanksgiving is over and BMS is back on target to wrap our Splinter of the Mind’s Eye parody within the next two weeks.
Today’s strip sees Princess Leia shooting and hitting Vader… well sort of… You can see how it happened in the book / comic adaptation on the right. I even tried to replicate Vader shaking his fist in the first panel and some of the dialogue. Much fun. Poor Leia… She thought she had gone and made the Rebellion proud, but Vader shrugs the wound off and gets his ass out of the Coway cavern. At least Leia actually did something at long last. The story had been dragging it’s ass on the ground for a while.
Next week will see the confrontation between Luke, Leia and Darth Vader. Stick around as it will be a lot of fun!

Sure, I’m so masochistic that I just love torturing myself by sitting up making milk cartons, cigarette packs sleeves, and action figure cards for nothing but the sheer torture of it all.

I sort of expected the mug to shatter and Vader to be all “noooooooo” and swear revenge.

I agree that would be hilarious to behold…. however, that would reek too much of Ep.III’s whiny Vader…. Keeping with BMS’s already stellar tongue-in-cheek humour, seeing BMS Vader break out into a mournful rendition of “Feelings” or, using FanGirl’s original suggestion of an outburst but one of “Kaaahhhhhnnnnn!” from (forgive me) Star Trek II would also have been great! But really… Why mess with the Original…?
That’s such a great idea. His ‘security mug’. I can just imagine him using the force to resurrect it with sellotape. For the rest of BMS the mug is covered in tape! with coffee leaking here and there.
Ok, write that down, send it to yourself via registered post, don’t open it and offer it to Rod for a fee.
That was considered as a punch line, but there were a couple of things going against it. I felt like it was the more obvious joke, I’ve seen it used effectively elsewhere as a gag by others and it would also make reference to the Prequel Vader, which we HAVE done, but try not to. Vader’s affection for his Coffee Mug seemed cuter and more in character with our take on Vader. 🙂 So in the end, that’s what won out.
Could be used as a way to get him to fight seriously though.

Is that still the same mug as it’s first appearance? It’s survived quite a bit, if so. Are their any specifications on the Mugs design? Or is lord Vader just that attached to it?
The art in the adaptation comic is so accurate. It’s unreal how much like Carrie Fisher that looks….

I picture some people seeing that as a metaphor that STAR TREK IS SUPERIOR! A Star Wars mug would have shattered!

Not a fan of “vs” mentality out there in geek sub cultures. Never saw Fanboys for that reason. :-/
I was going to make a comment (sarcastically) to that effect, but it could also be viewed as a sign of Vader being all the more evil for liking Star Trek. ((In the interest of full disclosure, I am much more the Trek fan than I am of Star Wars. I enjoyed the movies for what they were, but that’s about it. I’ve never ventured into the EU of Wars, and all my knowledge of things like hyperdrive comes from Star Gate))
