Wouldn’t you love to have been in the film The Empire Strikes Back and say “that’s the back of my head”? I actually feel sorry for the guy. Leia seems determined to direct the battle even if the whole room collapses on her, an action usually reserved for Han Solo. It isn’t until the Imperial Troops enter the base that she starts to give in. I guess, if you were really into the whole Han and Leia thing, then this would be one of those key moments.

We have a few strips lined up, which means a twice weekly schedule for the next couple of weeks. Consider it part of the “convention high”. The adrenaline is slow to fade after a great show. Two weekends from now Leanne and I will be in Richmond for the Virginia Comic Con. We got rid of half the limited edition BMS prints in Baltimore, so this is another chance for fans in our region to pick one up. Numbers 20 and up.

Just wanted to talk about a couple of things. 1.) Leanne is posting photos of her sketches from Baltimore Comic Con. You can see them by following her on Twitter or by checking the Blue Milk Special Facebook page. Some great BMS sketches among them.

2.) The ad space on the site is really paying off. We look set to make $100 this month, which is phenomenal and will help maintain the project. As you know, it’s not just the site, but the cons too, that suck up a ton of money. Keep in mind, Baltimore cost us $600 (although it would have been more had it not been a local show). The website repair costs were $600. The hosting and domain are trivial compared to that, but this isn’t a business and if it was we would always be running at a loss. What you guys are seeing with BMS is a fan project which we spend our personal time and money on. To be able to lessen that burden makes the actual creative part of the project THAT much more enjoyable. Baltimore, for the first time ever, was the first Comic Con that did not hurt us financially. We’re still thrilled about that. So, we hope if you do see an advertisement you are interested in, you will check it out via our site. It all helps.

3.) Glad you guys like BMS. I don’t say it often enough, but thank you for reading, commenting and supporting us. Often I will look back at the strips, and while some still make me laugh, others make me cringe and think how forgiving and tolerant our readership has thus far been. So, thanks for sharing in Leanne’s and my Star Wars diversion. We really appreciate the feedback and making so many new friends thanks to Blue Milk Special.

4.) A variant of the prints will be available to purchase via the website in a couple of weeks time (after Virginia Comic Con). We will throw in a free copy of both glossy BMS promo cards with each purchase while our supplies last.

5.) There’s a hurricane coming our way. Her name is Irene. Leanne and I live in beautiful Southern Maryland. We’re not sure how it will impact our area. I expect people south of us and on the coast will bear the worst of it. But, pray that the Forciness is with us. What a week, what with the DC Earthquake a few days ago. I swear it was Vader’s wrath when he was mistakenly given a frapp instead of a latte.

Both Leanne and Rod will be attending Virginia Comic Con, a single day show celebrating comics. It will be held in Crowne Plaza West in Richmond, VA on SATURDAY September 3, 10a-4p.

Admission is $6 bucks.

Free for kids under 5 and persons with a valid military ID.
