These are the voyages that don't make the captain's blog

A few weeks back I stumbled across Voyage Trekkers, a 3 to 5 minute webseries, that lampoons the formula of Star Trek and its derivatives. There is so much material to be parodied in the sci-fi genre that films like Galaxy Quest, which I love, only scratched the surface. The humor in Voyage Trekkers benefits from modern developments in social networking that were not as well established in the mainstream back when Galaxy Quest and Spaceballs were produced. It’s an impressive production for the still young medium of live action webseries. Not every episode left me in stitches, but I was certainly entertained and endeared to the characters.

Voyage Trekkers is a production of Squishy Studios. You can follow Squishy Studios on FB.

Voyage Trekkers is a comedy web series that follows the exploits of the worst crew in the Galactic Union. Lead by the charismatic but impulsive Captain Sunstrike (Adam Rini), with the unfazed first officer Commander Powell (Logan Blackwell), and the exasperated Doctor Rena (Gabrielle Van Buren).

Created by writer and director Nathan Blackwell and his Squishy Studios, the show is produced with Tray Goodman’s Inside Creative Minds Media. The episodes are two to three minutes long in length, with ten weekly episodes in the season.

The production was truly a labor of love. Everyone involved, from cast and crew, volunteered their time. What budget we had went to creating costumes, props, and feeding everyone. We hope you enjoy watching the show as much we enjoyed making it! — Voyage Trekkers website
