INT. DEATH STAR – CORRIDOR
Darth Vader and a stormtrooper commander stride down one of
the long Death Star corridors, followed by several aides.

That’s actually one of the funniest strips yet! I laughed out loud.
I suppose logic doesn’t break through The Force too often. I mean, look at Mace Windu: I see him making big goof-ups during the Clone Wars. Force Sensitivity must be a selective thing.
I wouldn’t know, but I’ll take your word for it. Watched as much of the film as I could stomach and then finished it via Confused Matthew’s Youtube review. No way I could watch the series. :-/
Actually the series itself isin’t too bad actually. They really should not have released the pilot episodes as a film.
With all their advanced technology, wouldn’t the Rebels have copied the plans many times as soon as they got them? It would be like Wikileaks – as soon as it’s out, there’s no hope of containing it. Instead of spending all the Empire’s resources trying to hunt down something so easily copied, why not just have somebody weld a grate over that exhaust hole or something?
If it’s a thermal exhaust port, it might be so hot it melts the grate….. lol
The Empire must not have known about the exhaust port, as the dialogue suggests that if the Rebels analyzed them a weakness might be found (hypothetical.) And maybe it was an encrypted “data tape” that couldn’t be easily copied. 🙂
Seconding Clone Wars series as a pretty decent cartoon. Of course, I have kids, which are the intended audience. Like the movies, it wasn’t meant as an adult-oriented series. Also, plot generally gets much better after season 2.
As for the stolen plans: I guess in 1977, when copy machines were still not very accessible to the general public – much less computers, where one can simply ctrl+C and make as many copies as possible, that kind of plot device would be easily accepted by the vast majority of normal, non-PC owning humans
Or maybe the Star Wars universe has a much more highly evolved form of DRM, where they were able to obtain a copy, but completely unable to copy the copy, despite the insanely advanced computer AI in the galaxy.
Why didn’t they make a crap ton of copies of the plans? Copy them, throw them out far and wide, ya know? Just wondering.
