Jedi-Con_2014_LogoLeanne and I are in Germany for the Official German Star Wars Fan Club’s Jedi-Con event. The Three day show runs from Oct 3 to 5, at Düsseldorf Maritim Hotel. The highlights for us are guests Garrick Hagon (Biggs Darklighter himself!), Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker.

— BREAKING NEWS UPDATE – FRIDAY MORNING: Last night while meeting with our awesome friends from Jedipedia and gathering in the hotel lobby to plan where we would go for dinner, Garrick Hagon arrived to check in. We had the class not to bother him after his long trip, but it was kind of special to be standing just five feet away from Biggs Darklighter himself! I honestly think meeting him will be a bigger thrill than Anthony Daniels or Kenny Baker, when it comes to the cast from the Original Trilogy that is. So far, meeting and hanging with Michael Stipp, Moritz, Daniela, George, Johan and everyone else has already made the trip worthwhile! Oh, we also saw a St. Bernard that was the size of a pony at the German pub where we had dinner. So far, the only disappointment of the trip, was not having the balls to go and give that behemoth a hug. —

We thought we’d upload a convention themed strip each day of the show, so check back on Saturday and Sunday for more. This weekend we’re going to do our darndest to meet Anthony Daniels, hence this little strip acknowledging his dedication. Along with Anthony Daniels, this strip features BMS German translator and club president Michael Stipp (a too often unsung part of the BMS team). Fellow Jedipedia staff members Moritz and Daniela make cameos in the background and are here at the show!

As mentioned previously, Michael has done a huge amount for us and has really become a part of the team. Of all the foreign languages BMS has been translated into, German is the only one to have caught up to us. All 650 or so strips to date can be read in German. No small feat by any means and many of our German readers have Michael to thank. Although English is well known over in lovely Deutschland, there are many German readers who would not have heard of us without Michael’s work. So our trip to Germany not only unites us with Michael, but gives something back to the German BMS readers. Oh, and we’ve needed a vacation for a long time now!

HOWEVER, BMS will continue for the next couple of weeks without interruption. We will get back to the Return of the Jedi story line with Rebel Fleet scene next week. So stay tuned for Wedge, Nien Nunb, Rebel Pilots and Rebel Lando and Han Solo — all right around the corner.
