Hi all,

Leanne here. So early last week we almost lost Biggs. [for those that don’t know, our 10 year old cat is named after Biggs Darklighter and has made appearances in BMS in the past] It was very sudden– he threw up at 4 AM, and by the afternoon was throwing up blood and lying with his face in the water bowl. He had deteriorated and started to go into shock by the time I could get home from work. It was incredibly traumatizing to see him in that state and not something I would wish on anyone. Our regular vet wouldn’t see him and took a while to return our call to tell us so. With no other choice we rushed him to the emergency vet. His blood pressure and body temperature were critically low. He was put into an incubator and given oxygen, they ran tests, etc. The vets there were great, and were able to get him stabilized by the next day. But it was absolutely scary and we almost lost him. I don’t know what I would have done without Rod, who stayed strong while I absolutely crumpled.

To be honest, we still don’t know for sure what caused it. It could have been something he ate, or it could have been a bacterial infection. On top of it all, our other cats [we currently have 5 total] started throwing up and not eating soon after and for the duration of the rest of the week (they have all improved now, thankfully). So whatever it was, it didn’t impact them like it did Biggs. The week has been scary as hell and very stressful. We went through an 8 pack of paper towel rolls in one week.

Obviously the vet bill was very expensive, but what matters most is that Biggs is continuing to improve. (Also I have become pretty skilled in grinding pills into a fine powder to mix into broth so I guess if you ever need someone for that I’m your gal.)

I just started a Ko-Fi in case there is anyone interested in helping by donation of a couple of bucks:
ko-fi.com/leannehannah I just wanted to thank you all SO much for the commissions, donations, shares and well wishes for Biggs! It has meant the world. Biggs finished his last dose of meds and is on the mend! He’s pretty much back to his old self, just waiting for his hair to grow back from the shaving they had to do (it looks kind of punk though). This week has been like night and day compared to last week, and it’s in large part thanks to all of you. Thanks so so much from me, Rod & Biggs

And we also have our Blue Milk Special Patreon for anyone into BMS/Star Wars:
If you subscribe to us through Patreon, you get to see the next set of strips early and get exclusive content. All money helps keep BMS going from the cost of the website to helping with my expensive monthly medical bills and health insurance. We can not publish BMS for sale as it is only a fan project, so we rely on fan support for the project’s continuation.
