I don’t know if anyone else has done this joke, because a while back I got fed up of people comparing us to Robot Chicken and Family Guy and, as a result, I consciously avoided watching the Empire Strikes Back parodies. Blue Milk Special does not rip off other parodies and we deliberately try to find new angles on well parodied scenes. We often avoid famous lines because they have been so thoroughly parodied already.

Admiral Ackbar is the perfect example of a dilemma for us. How do we approach a well loved character in our parody, when he had so few lines? It sometimes seems to me that “It’s a Trap” will never get old for some, but we aspire to something a little more fresh than just giving Star Wars fans more of the same. So far our take on Ackbar isn’t far removed from what people might expect, but as he never appeared until the final film, his sudden appearances (see his first BMS appearance here) are purely for fun. We actually have a comedic storyarc concerning Ackbar which will not begin until we get midway through Return of the Jedi. I should stress, IF we get to Return of the Jedi at all. Unlike Robot Chicken and Family Guy, we are simply a fan project. We do not make money from Blue Milk Special and whether BMS continues depends largely upon the success and freedom enjoyed in our home and work lives. πŸ™‚
